We are actually preparing the german and french translation, but we're
working on it...


Hi to everybody,

we are a group of students from different countries and we are doing
theErasmus program at the moment.

After talking with each other we realized that there are similar problems
among different universities, overall the Bologna process and the public
universities in general.

We believe that, by creating an international dialogue between associations,
assemblies(plenums),student s' syndicates and whoever interested, we could
create a network  of mutual support and discussion of actual problems.

We came to this idea after talking about the severe situation Italy is now
facing. In August 2008 a decree became law.This law counts on a drastic
reduction of the public financing of the entire public educational sector.

The government approved that: *<<[...] the public Universities can rule on
their own transformation into private law fundatio*ns>>; moreover, if these
fundations want to do this transition, they won't have to pay any type of
tax (normally applied to any passage of goods).

This law entails other complications, for example the reduction of personnel
working in the field of education and the fundings addressed to university
research.

The students are occupying high schools and universities since the end of
September with support of many teachers; in this period there are
demonstrations and strikes in several Italian cities every week.

Many professors of several universities are giving lessons on the streets
as a sign of protest.

This event gives us the opportunity to contribute an international support,
which can be significant both for italian students and the others, since
many countries are facing this process of privatization of knowledge, and
others can face a similar situation in the future.

Our aim is to achieve acts of support (for example sending letters of
solidarity signed by the students' assemblies , sending videos, etc...) and
organize events to raise awareness about this subject.

To make this network possible we need the participation of many people as
possible. We hope you also find this a good idea,so, if you want to
participate, please contact us as soon as possible. We have a lot of work to
do!
