Hello to all of you, dear MASNers....

So we came up with the call for paper, finally!
Butfirst there are some things that we shall tell you about theconference; actually there will be some little differences. They arecaused mostly from 2 issues: above all the peculiar situation we facehere in Italy,
                      secondly, linked to the first point, pratical and burocratical problems.

So...Moving from the consideration that in every conference there is not somuch time left for a real discussion between us concerning our ownexperiences and for other exchanges of practical informations:

- we thought that it can be interesting to try the 'open space technology',so we will propose you a moment each day in which we would have time tospeak in little gruops, about the topics of the days, our ownexperiences... and whatever, with some drinks, in an informal andrelaxed moment.
-then we would like to suggest you an hour or two in which every national team presents the state of anthropology in his country: schools, main topics, ph.D. possibilities, master and so on...
-third we think that we will really need time to think about the slovenian conference and how to present ourselves to EASA, and we will need some further time for this, beyond the classic network session.

...so we thought to test a longer conference: one day more. Thusin the first three days we can concentrate on papers, workshops andopen discussions, and then we can have all saturday to present ournational situation, network session and slovenian project.

Then, to get to the changes caused by la bella vita italiana... Wehave had quiet a lot of problems to organize the conference in Bologna,especially because our fucking cheaf of the department didn't supportedus, and so it has been quiet impossible to reach some funds frommunicipality and so on...
Another really important problem is thatin Italy we don't have as much structures as the german's one. Most ofthem are quite little, no more than 20-30 places. Moreover, we have lowclass buildings for student with scholarship, of course all full duringthe year, or very rich places for important events, but unbearablyexpensive. The only place we found near bologna in which we could findspace, Bertinoro, near Forlì, didn't want to give us ospitality.... 
even in Venice a lot of people were quiet interested in what we aredoing, but nobody could really help with money or offer a place....

So, as you can see, the conference has been really at risk,

...butthen, luckily, our great 'Siena team' managed to reach the heart of hisfaculty's director, which actually is in a difficult politicalsituation and so he is trying to gain support from the students...Thus he offered us the space and other kind of support, so....

THE CONFERENCE WILL BE HELD IN SIENA.

This will mean that there will be some differences:
 1 -we will be in a city (little and wonderfull.)
 2 -we will give to other students the possibility to follow the discussion (and we think this is really a good thing to encourage discussion)
 3 -we will movefrom the hotel to the university and back in the night (the only realannoying problem), and from the university to the restaurant (3 minuteswalking)

Anyhow:
1 -siena is very little and not that lively in the night, so we will be concentrate anyway
2 -we can enjoy the italian urbanstyle, and really have a 'moving anthropology' in a little medievalcity just in the middle of green hills and beatifull landscapes (withpefect food and wine) and I'm sure everyone of you will enjoy it...
3 -we will have spaces, however, only for us.......and we promise that you will not be disappointed:-)))
4 -we can have -for free- (thanks to the faculty director) a service of buses that will drive us in the morning and in the night, and of course in the afternoon after workshops for who needs a rest!
5 -the hotel is however only 7 minutes from the university by bus, so about 15-20 minutes walking
6 -we will have some cars for all your requests

About the program; we thought to dedicate all the evenings to the visual anthropology....
And please remember that the papers can't be more of 9, but we can held all the workshops and roundtables we want.
Oneproblem that normally we noticed, is that many workshops are in reallythought as papers, and then converted... so they lose depth andstrength.
Please, really thing about workshops and roundtable dicussions, so we can make them more efficient!!!

Lastthing: in april in Siena there are a lot of other events (and also allthe exams too), so the director of the faculty ask us if it is possibleto hold the conference in the first week of may. (6-11 may). we think that it's not a problem, but we would like to hear also your voice...
